A review on biocompounds and pharmacological activities of Bauhinia purpurea

Abstract
Bauhinia purpurea
L. is a medicinal plant, which has been traditionally used for various ailments
in different parts of India. The present study was focused on review of
Medicinal plant of B. purpura. The aim of this study was to evaluate the
Antinociceptive, Analgesic, and Antipyretic properties of aqueous extract of Bauhinia
purpurea leaves in male Balb-C mice and Sprague-Dawley rats. The ethanolic
extract of the leaves was evaluated for its anti-inflammatory, Anti-ulcer,
Antiproliferative, Antihypertensive, Antipsychotic, Antiepileptic, Antifungal,
and Antioxidant activities. The results showed that the extract showed
significant inhibitory activity against methanol extracts, while less
antibacterial activity was observed in hexane, acetone, and ethanol extract.
The extract also showed significant antioxidant activity against six pathogenic
and Non-pathogenic microorganisms: Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus,
Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida
albicans. In conclusion, the present study is focused on the review of the
medicinal plant of the plant, and it is concluded that the leaf extract of this
plant can be used to treat various ailments.
